Getting stranded at an airport is certainly no fun, but there are things you can do to help you pass the time, and make the wait seem shorter. Find ways to make the most of what otherwise would be a more stressful situation. Sure, your trip might have been delayed, but you can use the time creatively, until you are on your way once again.

If the delay between flights will be a long one, use a limousine service from Royal Coachman to travel to a local hotel. You can usually obtain vouchers at the airport for certain hotels in the area, and your Royal Coachman driver will know where each one is located. Even if you happen to be stranded in the town where you live, a driver can take you to a hotel, which is more comfortable than going all the way back home.

If your weather delay will be long enough to spend time browsing the area shops, your Royal Coachman driver will know the best shopping areas to hit in the general area of the airport. This way, you’ll be close enough to get back for your flight, without being stuck in the terminal the whole time.

Spending time looking through various shops will give you and your family something to pass the time while you’re waiting for your flight, and make the time seem less stressful. Grab some snacks and puzzle books for any time you may have left to wait, if you decide to head back to the airport a bit early.

You may also decide to dine at a nearby restaurant while you’re waiting for that next flight to take off. Our drivers will know which restaurants will suit your needs the best, when you tell them what type of food you’d like to have. Then you can eat a relaxing meal, while your driver waits to whisk you back to the airport in time for your flight.

If you don’t have a long delay, perhaps there are a couple local attractions that aren’t a far drive from the airport. This could be the chance that you’ve always wanted– to see some of the sights. Whether they are museums or other indoor sites where you can spend time, or just landmarks you’d like to see from a limo, the time will be well-spent and it will be time for your flight before you know it.

No one likes to spend time at airports when their flight has been delayed, so these plans will help you pass the time in a much more pleasant way. Talk to your Royal Coachman driver to determine which places are the easiest to get to, depending on the amount of time you have to kill. You can see and do more things than you might think, given just a relatively short layover. It’s a lot more productive than sitting in the terminal and waiting for the weather to break.

That’s no way to reward yourself after the rigors of a typical work week. How about using a personal chauffeur service with Royal Coachman, instead? Royal Coachman offers these chances to get away from the stress of travel, and allow you to fully enjoy the time.

Whether you’re escaping with friends or business associates, there may be necessary errands that need to be run, just like any other weekend. But how much easier will those errands be if you have someone driving, while you relax with your family or friends on the way to accomplishing errands, or even enjoy a solo weekend away from it all?

If you’ve been looking at airline schedules and thinking about booking a flight, maybe you should think again about the best way to travel this weekend. If you have projects to finish up and the flight schedules are nightmares, not to mention high rates for last minute trips, there’s a better way to relax and still accomplish the things you need to do. You can find that way by calling Royal Coachman and getting a personal chauffeur for the weekend.

For a relatively low price, you can be driven wherever you have to go, and then wherever you want to be, for your weekend away. Our drivers are completely insured, licensed and bonded, and they are carefully screened before they are allowed to drive passengers.

You can arrange for your personal limousine service driver to arrive early at your home, just in case you want to get an early start. You can finish any errands you have to do, before the weekend is your own. You won’t even have to touch the steering wheel.

That last minute project you need for work on Monday can be done while your driver negotiates the way to your relaxing weekend. Turn up the music and sit back in comfort, and know that your driver has everything under control. You can stop whenever you like, for drinks or lunch or even just to stretch your legs.

You may find that a driver can get you where you’re headed even faster than a flight, with its layovers and late arrivals. Plus, you won’t have to go through the hassle of TSA checkpoints at the airport. If you’re flying for the weekend, you’ll have to pick up where you left off on that project every time you transfer planes or go from plane to taxi or shuttle bus.

Perhaps the greatest benefit of using our personal chauffeur services is the convenience of not needing to deal with all the hassles of modern air travel. At the same time, you can be sure that all your family members are taken where they need to be, whether they are traveling with you or have their own plans for the weekend. Using a personal driver is the ultimate in convenience, whether for a weekend or even for a day. Give us a call today to book your very own special weekend, in style.

If you’re looking for a fun outing during the Halloween season, consider exploring some of New Jersey’s most haunted spots from the comfort of a small bus or sedan. Having a professional driver to take you from haunt to haunt will free you up to enjoy time with the others in your group instead of having to focus on directions to the next location.

New Jersey has no shortage of haunted places to visit. There are more than 30 haunted houses and other spooky spots. You can organize your tour to include as many stops as you’d like. Below are a few places you many want to include.

Tent of Terror/Haunt for the Hungry

Do some good while you get your spook on! This is Halloween fun for the whole family. There are some parts of the haunted house that are suitable for younger visitors, but for those who want the full blood and gore – that is available as well. The mission of this attraction is to raise money to feed the hungry.

Haunted Hotel

Explore the haunted halls and 15 rooms where you never know what you’ll see around the corner. This is one of New Jersey’s most popular Halloween attractions, so you won’t want to miss it!

Corner of Chaos Haunted Maze

Some people might find it a bit scary to wander through any type of cornfield maze. When it’s a haunted maze, the spook factor goes through the roof! See if you can find your way out of the maze without being scared silly by some of the actors who are also meandering through the maze.

Madness of Meadow Lane

This haunted attraction features something to scare everyone: zombies, ghosts and talking skeletons are just a few examples.

The above is just a small sample of the many haunted attractions in New Jersey, so you can pick and choose the ones you’d like to visit.

Reserve a Car vs. Driving

Whether you are planning a family outing with the kids or something with a group of friends, reserving a sedan or small bus can make the excursion one to remember. If you’re taking the kids out for a haunted evening, they will enjoy the novelty of having a professional driver. If you’re going out with a group of friends, hiring a car means that there will be no need for a designated driver, so your entire group can enjoy a drink on your way to your haunted stops.

Make this Halloween’s scary outing one that your group will never forget. When you hire a sedan or small bus from Royal Coachman, you will have a professional driver who knows where all the best haunted hot spots are located. You can pick your destinations or ask us for suggestions. Either way, you’re sure to have an eerily memorable evening.

For more information or to reserve a small bus or sedan for your haunted outing, call Royal Coachman at 800-427-7433 or 973-400-3200. You’re sure to have a ghostly good time!

Football fans can soon ignore the many rumors and mock drafts because the real event is coming soon to New York City. The 77th annual NFL draft is scheduled for April 26th-28th at Radio City Music Hall in Rockefeller Center. If you are an executive or a staff member of an NFL or college team, you can ride to the venue in luxury by taking the best limo service in New Jersey, Royal Coachman.

The annual draft of the nation’s top college football players is performed in reverse order of each teams’ previous record. By virtue of the New York Giants’ stunning victory in Super Bowl LXVI over the New England Patriots, this makes the Giants the recipient of the last pick of the first round of 30 picks. In contrast, the team with the worst record last season, the Indianapolis Colts, selects #1 in the first round.

With the first pick, the Colts are expected to draft the most highly rated player in the draft, in this case, Stanford University’s quarterback Andrew Luck. However the very next player expected to be drafted, quarterback Robert Griffin III of Baylor is equally a highly touted player and the team who possesses the #2 position is New York Giants rival, the Washington Redskins who gained the pick via a trade with the St. Louis Rams.

After the NFL and college football seasons are over, fans have taken to the many social media platforms to analyze, dissect and predict what college players will be picked in the first round and all have high expectations of who their favorite team will select. But just because a player was highly regarded in college, doesn’t necessarily translate well into the professional ranks. Of course there have been game changing superstars that have been drafted #1 overall in the first round: John Elway in 1983, Troy Aikman in 1989, Peyton Manning in 1998, and Eli Manning in 2004, who all led their teams to Super Bowl victories.

But there have been a lot of college players that went bust when they reached the pros. Take for example JaMarcus Russell, the #1 overall pick in 2007. The Louisiana State University quarterback who went 21-4 as a starter in college, was drafted by the hapless Oakland Raiders, then held out for more money until he received a $61 million contract, $32 million which was guaranteed money. After just three seasons with the Raiders, Russell went 7-18 as the starter and is now out of professional football. Another starting example of a draft bust is Ryan Leaf, who played college ball at Washington State University. Leaf was so highly regarded that he was the #2 overall pick in the first round of the 1998 NFL draft by the San Diego Chargers. Beset with injuries, poor performance and personal problems, Leaf was out of professional football. Just recently, Ryan Leaf made the news again, only in a far less positive light. Less than a month ago, he was arrested on burglary, theft and drug charges, not once, but twice in a span of 4 days.

Thus, each of the 30 teams of the NFL is well aware of the risks involved in their selection, which makes the evaluation process a state of the art science. But hope springs eternal for each of the teams as they dream of securing the next Joe Montana, who wasn’t picked until the end of the 3rd round in 1979 or a Tom Brady, who wasn’t picked until the 6th round of the 2000 draft.

The excitement is building for both fans and their respective team’s organizational staff. Many visitors know they won’t get a bust in selecting a New Jersey limo service by choosing Royal Coachman as their #1 chauffeured limousine and ground transportation service!

The Chrysler Building is iconic to New York City. In fact, it is one of the biggest examples of Art Deco** architecture in the United States. In 2005 it was voted by New York’s Skyscraper Museum as New Yorkers’ favorite tower in the City. The building itself is 77 floors and 319.5m (1048 feet) high. It is built with 29961 tons of steel, 3,826,000 bricks and has near 5000 windows. The cost to build this magnificent structure in in the late 1920’s was $20,000,000. The decorative features of the building were designed after the ornamental features on Chrysler cars. The eagles on the corners of the 21st floor were taken from the eagle hood ornaments on the 1929 Chrysler model car.

If you have never seen the Chrysler Building read this wonderful description of just the 3 story high lobby as so eloquently put at nyc-architecture.com…

“The three stories high, upwards tapering entrance lobby has a triangular form, with entrances from three sides, Lexington Avenue, 42nd and 43rd Streets. The lobby is lavishly decorated with Red Moroccan marble walls, sienna-coloured floor and onyx, blue marble and steel in Art Deco compositions. The ceiling murals, painted by Edward Trumbull, praise the modern-day technical progress — and of course the building itself and its builders at work. The lobby was refurbished in 1978 by JCS Design Assocs. and Joseph Pell Lombardi.”

So how are you on your Chrysler Building trivia? Next time it comes up in conversation here is an interesting fact. The 27-ton spire on top of the building took just 90 minutes to erect and the final height of the building was kept secret until the end. Chrysler was in a race to build the tallest building in the city. When it looked like the Bank of Manhattan was going to win, Chrysler had the spire built in secret inside the building and then had the spire added to the Chrysler Building. It held the record as the tallest building in the world for 11 months until the Empire State Building took the title. The Empire State Building was being built by Chryslers competition John Raskob of general motors. Raskob’s architects did some figuring and decided to make the Empire State Building 85 stories tall (eight stories taller than the Chrysler Building.) It was then that the Chrysler Building was bumped to the second-tallest building in the city. Special thanks to www.mentalfloss.com and www.jazzhostels.com for this bit of trivia!

Next time you’re in the area make sure to stop and look at this marvel.

The site itself is 18-acre and belongs to the Organization’s 193 Member States. Other subsidiary regional headquarters include Geneva (Switzerland), Vienna (Austria) and Nairobi (Kenya). The United Nations has a web of 15 specialized agencies that run effectively out of the subsidiary headquarters while NY is the home of the seats of the principal organs of the UN that include the General Assembly and Security Council.

Aside from its usage for official duties it is also home to a number of exhibits visitors to the area can enjoy for free. The Visitors Lobby features photographic, art, and multimedia presentations by world-renowned photographers, artists and global institutions on diverse topics such as human rights, climate change, malaria, children in armed conflict, and more. The galleries can be viewed daily from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Visitors’ entrance closes at 4:45 p.m.

The massive grounds may not be accessible to everyone but there is a terrific guided tour that is unforgettable. If you have had the honor of standing in the room where the General Assembly meets the visuals are very powerful, and to think it is a place where the world can come together and does to make some of the most important decisions that keep us connected. Guided and Audio Tours are conducted Monday through Friday from 9:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and last approximately 45 minutes. Audio Tours are also available on week-ends, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

The United Nations also offers another great service to the community around it. They have a Speakers Bureau with staff members of various expertise that can educate those who are interested on the latest issues and the UN Agenda. If you are planning a visit a request can be put in for a lecture, and if you are not in the area video-conference options are available as well.

We salute the United Nations members for the great effort they show forth on a daily basis to keep us connected worldwide. For more information on the United Nations visit http://visit.un.org/wcm/content/site/visitors/lang/en/home

In June the Neshanic Valley Golf Course will be hosting the USGA Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship. This is the first time the championship tournament has come to Neshanic Valley, a course that was opened in 2004 and has only hosted the golf tournament’s qualifiers.

What does it take to prepare for the expected 156 golfers and influx of several thousand spectators? One of the first items on the agenda is the construction of a 44-foot-long scoreboard and the planning of needed adjustments to the Branchburg golf course once the weather gets warm. Driving ranges have also been covered with tarps to promote better and earlier grass growth.

This tournament is one of 13 USGA national championships that are held annually, and was created in 1977 for public-course players. In order to qualify women must advance through qualifying matches and hold a USGA Handicap Index of 18.4 or lower. Past winners include professional players Michelle Wie and Jody Niemann-Dansie. For more information on the tournament you can visit http://www.usga.org/ChampEventSite.aspx?id=17179869344

The Somerset area will make its mark on the map as a sporty place to be to the expected influx of tourists. The county itself is even fine-tuning a network of shuttle buses that will transport players and spectators. Whether you just live in the area, are a golf player who is interested in playing or like to take a spectator stand this promises to be an unforgettable year for the USGA Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship.

Give Royal Coachman a call to arrange car service transport to and from the best golf courses in our region!

She stands in the harbor overlooking the great expanse many of our families saw for the first time when they first came to the United States of America. The statue was completed in Paris in June 1884, given to the American people on July 4, 1884, and reassembled and dedicated in the United States on October 28, 1886. The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of freedom and promise. But what do you really know about the statue itself?

Here are some useful facts next time conversation heads in her direction.

Her Size (In a case like this it’s ok to ask her size without getting in any trouble.):

Her total overall height from the base of the pedestal foundation to the tip of the torch is 305 feet, 6 inches.

Height of the Statue from her heel to the top of her head is 111 feet, 6 inches.

The face on the Statue of Liberty measures more than 8 feet tall.

There are 192 steps from the ground to the top of the pedestal and 354 steps from the pedestal to the crown.

A tablet held in her left hand measures 23′ 7″ tall and 13′ 7″ wide inscribed with the date JULY IV MDCCLXXVI (July 4, 1776)

Lady Liberty’s eyes are each 2 feet 6 inches across, she has a 35-foot waistline, and she weighs about 450,000 pounds (225 tons).

The statue’s hand is 16 feet 5 inches long and her index finger is 8 feet long. Her fingernails are 13 inches long by 10 inches wide and weigh approximately 3.5 pounds each.

The Statue has a 35-foot waistline.

There are seven rays on her crown, one for each of the seven continents, each measuring up to 9 feet in length and weighing as much as 150 pounds.

Total weight of the Statue of Liberty is 225 tons (or 450,000 pounds).

Lady Liberty’s sandals are 25 feet long, making her shoe size 879.

At the feet of the Statue lie broken shackles of oppression and tyranny.

During the restoration completed in 1986, the new torch was carefully covered with thin sheets of 24k gold.

The exterior copper covering of the Statue of Liberty is 3/32 of an inch thick (less than the thickness of two pennies) and the light green color (called a patina) is the result of natural weathering of the copper.

Other Miscellaneous Facts to Note:

The statue functioned as an actual lighthouse from 1886 to 1902. There was an electric plant on the island to generate power for the light, which could be seen 24 miles away.

The Statue of Liberty underwent a multimillion dollar renovation in the mid-1980s before being rededicated on July 4, 1986. During the renovation, Lady Liberty received a new torch because the old one was corroded beyond repair.

The statue’s real name is “Liberty Enlightening the World.”

A Monument That Still Speaks

Numbers tell part of her story, but they do not capture the feeling you get when you see her in person. She rises above the water with quiet strength, greeting millions who pass through the harbor each year. Generations have looked up at her torch and felt hope, ambition, and possibility.

The Statue of Liberty represents more than copper and steel. She reflects courage, new beginnings, and the belief that opportunity waits on the other side of uncertainty. Long after you memorize her measurements and milestones, that meaning remains the most powerful fact of all.
