One Nation, Many Faces…

In our line of work, we have the privilege of providing limousine car service in New Jersey and the NYC Metro area to clients from all over the world.  Our area is a melting pot of cultures and traditions.  And it’s also the home and headquarters to the United Nations, and has been so since its completion in 1952. The site itself is 18-acre and belongs to the Organization’s 193 Member States. Other subsidiary regional headquarters include Geneva (Switzerland), Vienna (Austria) and Nairobi (Kenya).  The United Nations has a web of 15 specialized agencies that run effectively out of the subsidiary headquarters while NY is the home of the seats of the principal organs of the UN that include the General Assembly and Security Council.

Aside from its usage for official duties it is also home to a number of exhibits visitors to the area can enjoy for free. The Visitors Lobby features photographic, art, and multimedia presentations by world-renowned photographers, artists and global institutions on diverse topics such as human rights, climate change, malaria, children in armed conflict, and more. The galleries can be viewed daily from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Visitors’ entrance closes at 4:45 p.m.

The massive grounds may not be accessible to everyone but there is a terrific guided tour that is unforgettable. If you have had the honor of standing in the room where the General Assembly meets the visuals are very powerful, and to think it is a place where the world can come together and does to make some of the most important decisions that keep us connected.  Guided and Audio Tours are conducted Monday through Friday from 9:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and last approximately 45 minutes. Audio Tours are also available on week-ends, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

The United Nations also offers another great service to the community around it. They have a Speakers Bureau with staff members of various expertise that can educate those who are interested on the latest issues and the UN Agenda. If you are planning a visit a request can be put in for a lecture, and if you are not in the area video-conference options are available as well.

We salute the United Nations members for the great effort they show forth on a daily basis to keep us connected worldwide. For more information on the United Nations visit http://visit.un.org/wcm/content/site/visitors/lang/en/home
